Why Climate-Controlled Storage?

Our climate-controlled storage units are located inside, and temperature is controlled 100% of the time. Your items will be safe from water damage, mold, mildew and rodents. Why Store my RV, Boat, Motor home or Vehicle Indoors?

Indoor storage units provide protection from the elements, such as, hail, sun and snow. It can be dangerous to leave an RV or trailer in front of your house, as they’re often magnets for vandalism and theft. Our storage facilities have high fences, gated access, and video surveillance. A lot of neighborhoods have covenants that prohibit parking of RVs or trailer on driveways. Save money by choosing an indoor storage unit to avoiding repair damages caused by heavy snowfall, sever storms and vandalism.

How can I rent a unit or parking spot?

You can rent a unit 24/7 through our website and you can move in right away (even on the weekend and off hours). You can also call seven days a week from 8:00am to 6:00pm. The rental process takes about 10 minutes. If we are away from the phone, please leave a voicemail and we will call you right back.


Will I need my own padlock?

For the climate controlled units, yes, you will need to provide your own padlock for your unit door. We recommend a disc style lock, which are available for sale at the facility. Just call or text 507-516-0099 to purchase one. For the RV and boat storage, no, access will be gained through man doors.


What items are sensitive to temperature?

Many materials and items can be affected by storage temperature variations. Items such as furniture, mattresses, woods, electronics, leathers, furs, clothing, paintings, film, photographs, furniture, antiques, musical instruments, wine, paper and software can be damaged or affected if not stored in a climate-controlled environment.We maintain a temperature from 60-80 degrees all year round. We also monitor and control humidity.


Can I get to my items anytime that I want?

Yes. We offer a 24-hour electronic-controlled security access.


Are my items safe?

Yes. We're watching your self-storage units with video surveillance that runs 24 hours per day. Secure self-storage is a priority for Midwest Indoor Storage.


How do I choose the right size for my items?

Give us a call and we can assist you with determining how best to meet your needs. We have many sizes of self-storage units available from a small unit 5’X5’ to a large unit 14'x50’ and many sizes in-between.


Do I have to carry my items to my units myself?

Midwest Indoor Storage provides carts, dollies, and furniture rollers to assist you in moving your items to your self-storage unit.


Should I put insurance on my unit?

It is always best practice when renting any storage unit. You can add insurance to your unit during the rental process (if available) or contact your insurance agent and add your storage unit to your home owners policy or renters policy.


What do I do with extra boxes or things I don't need when moving out?

To keep your rent as low as possible, we do not provide trash removal. Everything that comes into the facility with you, needs to go out with you.


When is rent due?

Rent is always due on the first day of the month. You can go online to "Make a Payment/Login" or call 507-516-0099 to make a payment over the phone. It is easiest however to setup on auto payment, so you don't need to remember every month.


What happens if I move into my unit in the middle of the month?

You will be charged a prorated about for the month as well as your first full month's payment.


What happens if I move out of my unit in the middle of the month?

We do not prorate rent back to you, so we recommend moving out towards the end of the month to take advantage of what you have paid for.


Can I rent for less than 1 month?

We have a one month minimum on all of our units. If you only need it for a week, that is fine, but you will still need to pay for the whole month.


What do I need to do when I no longer need my unit?

Remove all items from the unit and property, sweep your unit clean, remove your lock from the unit and then call us to let us know you no longer need the unit. You are responsible for the unit until you call and we can confirm your move out.
